As one of the bookend events leading up to the Brooklyn Book Festival on Sunday, September 21st, The Bridge Series launches its first co-presentation with the PEN America Translation Committee, “Imaginary Gardens With Real Robots in Them: On Translating Science Fiction,” on Thursday, September 18th at 7pm at Singularity & Co., in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
Terry Gallagher, translator of Toh EnJoe, among others, will appear with Ross Benjamin, translator from the German, and Michael Kandel, translator from the Polish, to discuss their craft and the challenges unique to translating science fiction. The event will be moderated by Sal Robinson, co-founder of The Bridge Series.
